A brow lift, sometimes called a forehead lift, can do wonders to reverse the effects of aging. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and the forehead and brow area can begin to sag. This may make you look tired, sad, or grumpy and causes deep creases in the forehead and between the eyebrows. When the brows are lifted and the forehead smoothed, you look younger and more approachable.
What is an Eyebrow Lift?
A brow lift raises the eyebrows and smoothes the forehead with one of three techniques: open brow lift, endoscopic brow lift, and limited incision technique. At your consultation, Dr. Ortiz will discuss these options in depth and decide which is right for you. All brow lifts involve making small incisions in or behind your hairline so that scarring is invisible. During an open brow lift, which is the traditional method, a long incision is made around your hairline so that excess skin and fat can be removed. The forehead is then smoothed and the incision closed with small sutures. An endoscopic brow lift involves a few small incisions being made around the hairline so that a small camera can be inserted, allowing the surgeon to see and reconstruct the internal structures of the forehead. A brow lift performed with the limited incision technique is a combination of open and endoscopic brow lifts. It’s important to know that a brow lift only smoothes the area above your eyebrows. Because of this, many patients choose to pair it with an eyelid surgery to completely improve the look of their eyes and forehead.
